Yanagi Sori Design Memorial
Activities
EYanagifs works are displayed in a eliving roomf, edining roomf, and ekitchenf in order to appreciate his remarkable designs in ea real living spacef exhibit.
EActivities concerning research of designs by Yanagi and his contemporaries are carried out and are available to the public.
EYanagifs activities, and research and education efforts by Kanazawa College of Art are introduced. Additional exhibitions and lectures are planned.
EBooks related to Yanagi and his work are available for public viewing.

Take the Konohana route bus at bus terminal 11 at the east exit.
Get off at Hikosoryokuchi.

Collection Materials
More than 7,300 webuitems, including works, models, and prototypes designed by Yanagi were entrusted to Kanazawa College of Art in March 2012.
Connection with Kanazawa
In 1941, accompanying Charlotte Perriand, Yanagi visited Kanazawa. He served as a professor (1955-67) and a visiting professor (1997) at Kanazawa College of Art.
Career
Yanagi Sori was born as the first son of Yanagi Muneyoshi (Soetsu) in 1915. He graduated from Tokyo School of Fine Arts in 1940. The following year, accompanying Charlotte Perriand,
he went on a tour of inspection throughout the country. In 1953, he founded Yanagi Design Office. Yanagi became a professor at the Industrial Art Department of Kanazawa College of Art(1955),
the director of The Japan Folk Crafts Museum (197V), and a professor at the Indian Institutes of Technology Bombay (1983). He received the Kitaro Kunii Industrial Design Award (1992),
and was selected as a Person of Cultural Merit (2002).
