一 馬高賢の塗りのかたち 一
　中国からの留学生である馬 高賢は、東京藝術大学名誉教授の大西長利先生に学んだ後、研究生と修士の3年間を金沢美術工芸大学で漆芸の研究制作に励みました。

　彼は自ら漆の精製を行い、朱漆や通常自分で作ることが大変難しいとされる黒漆を作り、その漆を用いて生命をテーマに制作した形に幾重にも塗り重ねて、漆の美しく魅力的な表情を伴った力強い作品を生み出しています。

　彼は3月に大学院を修了し帰国します。絵画的な表現が主流の現代の中国において馬高賢の邪念のない塗りによる仕事が人々を魅了し、これからの中国の漆芸術を担うひとりとして歩んでいくことを心から願っています。

-The form of Ma Gaoxian's lacquer

Ma Gaoxian, having studied under Professor Emeritus Nagatoshi Onishi at Tokyo University of the Arts, spent three years in postgraduate work and research in lacquer art at Kanazawa College of Art.

Unusually, he refines the vermillion and black lacquer himself, which is very difficult to accomplish by oneself

He uses this lacquer to create powerful works in a beautiful and fascinating expression, applying layer upon layer to the forms he creates on the theme of life.

Ma Gaoxian, an international student from China, will return home in March after completing his postgraduate studies.

I sincerely hope that his work in lacquer will appeal to people in contemporary China, where pictorial expression remains the mainstream, and that through the exquisite purity of his works he will go on to become a leading light in the world of Chinese lacquer art.
